Breakfast:
A typical English breakfast can be a toast with butter or jam, otherwise a bowl of cereal (e.g. cornflakes or muesli) with milk, or porridge. A traditional English breakfast which is also known as a fry-up, is a cooked meal which may contain food such as sausages, bacon, kippers (a type of fish), black pudding, scrambled egg, mushrooms, fried tomatoes, baked beans, hash browns and toast.
Lunch:
Many people just eat a sandwich for luch. Some people have a simple meal such as cheese and biscuits or soup and bread. A Sundy roast is a traditional meal eaten by a family at Sunday lunchtime; for example, roast beef with roast potatoes, parsnips, peas, Brussels sprouts, green beans, Yorkshire pudding, bread sauce and gravy. Mint sauce or redcurrant jelly is often eaten with lamb, apple sauce with pork, and horseradish sauce with beef, cranberry sauce with turkey.
Afternoon tea:
Afternoon tea is a small meal eaten in the late afternoon. People often eat biscuits, scones (sometimes with cream) or crumpets with tea. Some of the most common varieties of tea are: Assam, Ceylon, Darjeeling, Earls Grey, English Breakfast, and herbs/fruits infused tea etc.
Take away/Eating out:
Britain is a multicultural society. You can buy ingredients and foods from different country of the world. Most towns have an Indian restaurant, serving food such as curry or chicken tikka masala. Chinese foods are also very popular, like sweet and sour chicken and aromatic duck. You can also enjoy Italian pizzas and pastas, Turkish Kebabs, and Japanese sushi, etc.
