Tier 1 General is designed to allow Highly Skilled non-EEA nationals who will contribute most to the economy to immigrate to the UK. It is seperated into four subcategories i.e. General Applicants, Entrepreneurs, Investors, and the Post-Study Work category. A Tier 1 General visa application requires no sponsors and is dependent on the candidate achieving 75 points in addition to being able to maintain themselves and any dependants they may have. The initial grant under this provision will be 3 years followed by an extension for 2 years.
Criteria
Tier 1 General applicants will be assessed on age, qualifications achieved, previous earning, UK experience and English requirements. You can claim certain points under each assessing component. In total 75 points are needed plus 10 in Maintainance and 10 in English ability.
*For Maintainance:
Applicants outside the UK seeking entry clearance must have at least ¡Ì2,800 of personal savings.
Applicants in the UK seeking further leave to remain must have at least ¡Ì800 of personal savings.
English:
Applicants need to
pass an English Language test which is equal to or exceeds level C1 of the Council of Euope's Common European Framework for Language Learning ( IELTS 6.5) or,
Have successfully completed a degree course taught in English or,
Come from a country in which English is the main language
